This was the first song I ever wrote for my Wife and also the first song I ever wrote in one sitting. We were in the midst of being the young parents of two little girls and dealing with a major lay off. Times were really tough and I wanted her to know that we can make it through the difficulties because She is my True Love. If you are a young parent, this will strike a chord with you.
lyrics
I know it’s hard here in this Prison, Hard to watch the days just fly away. The test of time has shown its colors, and all we see is just blue and grey.I wish I knew the answers to the questions,
Because maybe then you wouldn’t cry. I’d change it all if I could, nothing compares to…..
You are the one I was dreaming of, over whom I lost sleep when I was 16. Running circles round you in my head, wondering if I’d recognize you. Then you came to my life without question and stole my heart so fast.Don’t give it back, don’t give it back. Don’t give it back,
Been a while since I strolled you around town, this stretch of days can lead astray. The captives took over this castle, but we’ll fight and we’ll fight against mutiny.Man overboard, then you followed me.
We can fight through the deep. Take my hand in these wretched seas, and I’ll float away with….
You are the one I was dreaming of, over whom I lost sleep when I was 16. When my life flashed before my eyes, memories of you hung on to me. Welcome to my rescue, you’ve taken control of this boat……..
Don’t give it back, don’t give it back. Don’t give it back, don’t give it back.
Clouded Sleep, Angels keep watch over all of us.
Promises I’ll keep, Children sleep on dreams of our tomorrow.
You are the one I was dreaming of, over whom I lost sleep when I was 16. Running circles round you in my head, wondering if you’d recognize me.Then you came to my life without question and stole my heart so fast. Welcome to my rescue, Don’t take it back, don’t take it back! Don’t take it Back, don’t take it back!
